The Ranked-Choice Voting Local Options Bill, now known as SHB 1156, is currently in the House of Representatives! While session is paused until 2022, you can still contact your legislators in support of ranked-choice voting! The local options bill has 27 cosponsors and bipartisan support. Here are the successes to date:

Over 1,500 Washingtonians signed in to support the bill for both of its first hearings.

On February 11th, the bill passed the House State Government & Tribal Relations Committee with a bipartisan, 5-2 vote.

On February 18th, the bill passed the House Appropriations Committee with a bipartisan, 22-11 vote.

On March 9th, the House reached a “cutoff date” for the bill, and progress on local options will be paused until January of 2022.
